KISS (Kiln Interface Software System) is an easy to use interface for programming and monitoring of the controller from a computer. The program is designed to allow users of ceramic kilns to access their ***Bartlett Instrument*** kiln controller through use of a personal computer running Windows 95 or 98. In addition to the ability to remotely access the existing functions of the controller, KISS also includes the capability to collect and store data from the firing process, which will allow for detailed evaluation of the kiln's actual temperatures during a firing. The status screen will show the current program, current set point, current segment, firing time, and each zone temperature. KISS will also allow the user to monitor, at a glance, a maximum of 10 kilns simultaneously, by providing a display of all ten kilns' current status and current temperature. Firing information can also be collected in a file for later viewing or graphing.
To give your kiln a KISS, you need a KISS Starter Kit. The type of kit you will need depends on the type of connection you have to your computer. You will either need the KISS Starter Kit with the RS-232 converter or the KISS Starter Kit with the USB converter.
The starter kit includes KISS software on CD or 3.5" disks, a 25 foot modular cable (to connect from the computer to the kiln), a modular connector to install on the kiln, an RS485 chip to install in the controller and either an opto-isolated RS232 to RS485 converter or a USB to RS485 converter.
Each additional kiln that you connect to the network will require a KISS Kiln Kit.
