Fine Tuning Zone Control Features

LAG - The LAG controls the evenness of the firing. As the LAG is decreased the firing time is increased.

AutoLAG - When AutoLAG is "ON" then the LAG feature does not function until the final segment of the firing. AutoLAG will decrease the firing time and it can be used if evenness of the firing is only important in the final segment.

PID - Settings for PID are from 0% to 150%. The PID controls how much the middle section helps the bottom section when the bottom is lagging behind. When the bottom section is lagging and comes on at full power then the middle section fires at the current power setting to help out the bottom. The default setting is for 85%. PID does not function with 2 zone control.

T/C Offsets - Thermocouple offsets are used to balance the heat work in the three zones and even the firing from top to bottom. Changing the t/c offsets usually has no effect on firing time.

Shut Off (SHtO) - When shutoff is turned off (the default setting) then the average of the three zone temperatures must reach the set-point before the kiln turns off. With shutoff turned "on" then when any one of the zone temperatures reaches the set-point the kiln will transition to the next segment or if at the end go to complete. Setting the shutoff on will help prevent overfiring.

NOTE: For kilns with heating elements in the bottom slab a more even firing is generally achieved by setting the Shutoff to "on" and setting the PID to zero.
